WORLD CUP USA 94
World Cup USA 94 is a soccer (football) game for DOS by Epyx, released in 1994. It’s still available and playable with some tinkering (see the end of this post for more information).
“World Cup USA 94” is a pretty solid game by the standards of soccer video games. It’s pretty similar to “International Soccer”, also released in 1994, except that it uses the graphics from “European Club Soccer”. So if you enjoyed playing “International Soccer”, you’ll probably like this one too. It’s a bit hard to find, but if you’re willing to go through some trouble, there are ways to get it running on modern systems.
Take care!
World Cup USA 94 is a soccer video game that was released in 1994 and created by EA Sports. It was licensed by FIFA, the international governing body for soccer, and the 1994 World Cup.
This game is the first installment of the World Cup series from Electronic Arts, which would later release World Cup 98, 2002, 2006 and 2010 in real-time 3D. The game featured all 23 men’s national teams that qualified for the 1994 FIFA World Cup, plus an additional nine (consisting of players who were not members of any national team at that time) that were included as fictional entries.
The United States team was also included despite failing to qualify for the actual tournament. However, its inclusion may have been a political decision because FIFA had recently banned international play by American teams due to a dispute over television rights. Instead of the USMNT representing the United States on their home soil, they were replaced with a fictional team made up of American players who played in Europe at the time.
