WallClaimer
The WallClaimer app is the first software that can change your friends’ wallpaper, without their consent. A user installs the application on their smartphone, and they can then choose a picture from their gallery to be set as a background on all the devices of his/her friends that are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
The concept behind this app is quite simple: it’s about sharing and fun.
The app has been developed by two students of computer engineering, Mr. Jean-Claude Montagner (in French: “jeune-plante”) and Mr. Julien Carpentier (in French: “julien-carpentier”), in collaboration with Konrad Schroeder, the chairman of the IT department of their university, who also happens to be an alumnus at Georgia Tech and was an assistant professor there when he had time to help them out.
This project was created in 48 hours during a hackathon organized by a French web agency. The University of Technology of Compiegne (UTC) is located in Compiegne (France), at 80 km north-east from Paris. It’s a very nice place to live and study; the best way to describe it is “the countryside near Paris”.
We live in a world where taking pictures and sharing them has become second nature. This is especially true for teenagers, who have grown up with the Web, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. As a result of this prolific photo-sharing phenomenon, we have become accustomed to seeing the same background on our friends’ laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc. It’s time for change!
And that’s where WallClaimer comes in. WallClaimer is an app that lets you claim your friends’ walls across all of their devices (Android or iOS).
