Ive been reading a lot of thrillers recently and there are certain things that many of them have in common. One is that they typically feature a female character who is a badass at their job and it is easy to feel like these characters are just another version of the typical “kick-butt” female hero. I like this character archetype, don’t get me wrong but where were all the women who were still kick-ass but not in the same way as everyone else? Where were all the women who were funny and had great senses of humor? Where were all the women who were super smart, without being awkward about it?

If you havent spent any time with Kori Briggs yet, what the heck are you waiting for? Kori is a super spy, and if you havent seen her in action yet, shes not only fun but also smart and gorgeous. She got her start in the underground fighting circuit, which gave her plenty of opportunities to hone her killer instincts. She has since been employed by a private security firm for several years, where she took down several high-profile targets. Now shes just starting out as an independent contractor, showing off her skills to the world.

I was introduced to this character by the comic book series titled SixGunGorilla. It is written by Ryan Ferrier and drawn by Juan Doe. It is published by Boom! Studios. The first issue came out on February 11, 2016. I found it at my local comic book shop after hearing about it on a podcast called Word Balloon that discusses comic books. I was intrigued when I heard that it was about a female super spy and I really liked the idea of supporting a company that publishes comics created by women because there is just so much more work that needs to be done to make sure that women are equally represented in all areas of the entertainment industry including comics, television shows, and movies
