Telegram
Telegram is an app for instant messaging and sharing content which differentiates itself from the competition through its focus on mass communication. It encourages people to “broadcast” their messages to large groups of people at once, in contrast to other messaging apps that are designed for private conversations between two people. It’s for this reason that Telegram is sometimes referred to as a “mass-messaging app”.
Telegram’s layout is bright, simple and minimalist, and it has a lot of fun features that make it a pleasure to use. In addition to the basic features you’d expect from any messaging app—like message history, the ability to edit messages after they’re sent, group chat and so on—Telegram offers additional bells and whistles like stickers (which are essentially emoji), channels (essentially group blogs), encrypted chat, games and more. Telegram is free and can be used across almost every device.

It’s not just a tool to be used by individuals, but also by businesses and communities who need to stay in touch in a fast, secure, and reliable way.
Telegram was founded in 2013 by a Russian entrepreneur named Pavel Durov, who previously had experience as the founder of VK, a Russian social network that’s similar to Facebook (in fact, Durov was forced out of VK when it was taken over by a pro-Putin business group). The idea behind Telegram is that it can substitute for many other communication channels—not only email and phone calls, but also text messaging and online chatrooms.
