SUPER MONACO GP
Super Monaco GP was a racing game released on the SEGA Genesis in 1990. It was made by SEGA Enterprises Ltd. and published by SEGA Enterprises LTD, and it was one of the first games to be released on the Genesis. It was also released on Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, Game Gear and SEGA Master System. The game was based off of the Monaco Grand Prix racing circuit. In the game you played as either an F1 driver or a sports car driver and raced through the city of Monte Carlo in your race car. You could play against computer-controlled opponents or other players via split screen.
The versions for the Sega Master System and Game Gear had less detail than their 16-bit counterparts and were not nearly as graphically impressive, but they did have better sound quality. The Master System version had a time limit feature that allowed you to select from multiple events in different time periods such as Night Driving and Time Attack. The vehicles used in these events were similar to those used in actual F1 races at the time of release, with the exception of Ferrari’s F40 GTE which never actually participated in any races during this era.

The SEGA Master System was quite popular in Europe but did not manage to be successful in the US and Japan. The console was however released in Brazil and Argentina by Tectoy. As SEGA Enterprises Ltd. was based in the UK, they had a license to develop games for Tectoy’s consoles.
