Pirates Down the Street
When I was a kid, Captain Hook and his crew would sail merrily up to London or Neverland for daring adventures with Peter Pan and the Lost Boys.
But now, pirates have set up shop on my street.
Yes, that sounds like a weird thing to say. But it’s true!
It all started when I noticed some new neighbors moving in across the street. Their house is just like ours, except that it has a pirate flag flying from the roof and everything. They don’t seem like swashbucklers on land, though. The wife is constantly walking their dog, and the husband’s always tinkering with that old car of his in the driveway.
The kids are really quiet in comparison; they never even go out front to play! Maybe they’re too busy hiding gold doubloons inside their closets to play outside? Maybe they’re too busy counting their booty to go outside? For all I know, they might be plotting revenge against Captain Hook!
I’m not sure if they’ve ever met him personally. He lives down the shore a bit, in another town that looks just like this one but with more palm trees. We don’t really see him often because he doesn’t take kindly to trespassers in his
Every once in awhile a wild story comes up that is both interesting and funny. And it’s even better when it involves real people, and real pirates. So the title isn’t just a catchy phrase, but the actual name of a town in Connecticut where some pirate enthusiasts moved in to live their lives like pirates.
