MINI-PUTT
MINI-PUTT perfectly blends the fast-paced action of arcade games with the immersive experience of a full-length golf game. The goal of the game is, obviously, to get the ball into each hole in as few shots as possible. This is done by hitting the ball across a variety of surfaces and obstacles, including ramps, bumps, valleys, and even boxes that act as magnets for the balls. The player’s score is tallied after each round, and can compete against friends or other players online to see who can get their score down to zero first. The game has many courses with varying difficulty levels; however, it is recommended that players start out on “Easy” mode so they can master the controls before moving onto more challenging courses.
Miniature golf games are instantly fun for anyone; however, what really makes this game stand out from others is its intuitive controls. The player simply needs two buttons—one for hitting the ball left and one for hitting it right—and there are no complicated power-ups or complex button combinations to remember. Even better, there is no time limit so players can take as much time as they need in between shots. It’s this simplicity that makes the game accessible to both children and adults—whoever has had some time on
MINI-PUTT is an outstanding mini golf game for the NES. What makes it a cut above other golf games is its intuitive controls, fun obstacles, and variety of courses that keep things from getting too repetitive. The obstacles you encounter as you play vary from level to level and include moving platforms, springboards that launch you into the air, tile-shifting platforms, and more. There are also 100s of different items you can collect by hitting targets with your ball, including a variety of power-ups that make completing the course more manageable.
