This week, we’re excited to share some big news from the Microsoft Family Safety team: we’ve made our free service available to Windows Insiders! This means that all Windows users who install the latest version of Windows 10 Insider Preview can use Family Safety to set up a family account, manage and monitor their children’s activities online, and more.

When you sign up for Family Safety, you’ll get:

-The ability to create a new family group and add other family members (you can also choose to add your child’s friends or caretakers). You can then set daily screen time limits, activity reporting, and bedtime reminders for your kids.

-A view of your child’s activities on all their devices. You can see what apps they are using most frequently, their web browsing history, whether they’re chatting with people you don’t know, frequent contacts—and more.

-The option to control what social media apps your children have access to on their phones. For example, you can turn off Snapchat completely or make sure your child only uses it in low-risk situations.

-The option to block inappropriate apps from appearing in Windows search results. So if your child is searching for something inappropriate—like “free porn” —it won’t

If you’re a parent, chances are you have spent a lot of time and energy figuring out how to keep your kids safe online (and also in real life). To help make this job easier, Microsoft created the Microsoft Family Safety app for Windows. It allows you to manage all of the accounts your family uses, from Xbox accounts to email addresses and more. You can set limits on what sites or apps your child can use, filter out the content they’ll see, and even monitor their location.
