Block Fill is a video game published in 2008 on Commodore 64. I love to play it and the experience I have with this game was very exciting. The rules are simple: you have a grid of 16×4 blocks, each with a single color. You need to fill the grid so that every column and every row have only one color. There are several levels and every level has a specific goal that needs to be reached. The first level is simple – Fill all the blocks with color red. The second level is more advanced – Fill all the blocks with two colors, blue and yellow. The third level is even more challenging – Fill all the blocks with three colors, red yellow and blue combined. Some levels require you to use logic and think outside the box, while others are more about strategy, some are pure luck just like life itself!
Block Fill was a game I discovered while browsing through the retro gaming store. I was intrigued, mainly due to the fact that it was a puzzle game, and said puzzle game was apparently made in 2008. The Commodore 64 is a computer that uses cassette tape, and has no mouse whatsoever. I would have never thought that you could make a good puzzle game without using a mouse! It’s also one of those rare games that actually supports multiplayer!
