Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10 both come with a feature called “gadgets” that your desktop can display. Usually, the gadgets are small applications that perform some basic tasks, like showing the current weather or displaying your next calendar appointment. The problem is that most of the gadgets only work with Internet Explorer and do not work in the other web browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, and Opera. If you have ever wanted to use cool Vista gadgets on Windows 7, 8/8.1, or 10, those gadgets will not work either because they require Vista to run and Vista is no longer officially supported by Microsoft.
