007: LICENCE TO KILL is based on the 1989 film in which James Bond, played by Timothy Dalton, is running after Franz Sanchez who murdered Felix Leiters bride. The goal of the film was to create a darker Bond movie and it was received well by critics at the time. To achieve this goal, Licence to Kill is the longest Bond film in length and it has the highest body count with more than 40 deaths.

The story follows James Bond as he tries to track down Sanchez and bring him to justice for his crimes. The film does a wonderful job at recreating the darker tone that was set up in the previous film, For Your Eyes Only, but it also adds another layer of complexity to James Bond’s character by dealing with his relationship with his wife, which had been left open-ended in For Your Eyes Only.

The structure of the film has many similarities to that of On Her Majestys Secret Service from 1969 – both films even have a wedding scene and they are both two-part stories where there is some action and comedy in the first part and then tension builds up before a final showdown between Bond and his villain. This structure works really well for both films because it allows them to build up tension without having an entire act devoted to building up
