This game is a port of Interplay’s earlier release “Five Nations”, which was released in 1992 for the Amiga, Atari ST, and MS-DOS. Five Nations was the second game in the “Victory” series of turn-based strategy games by Interplay, following the original European conquest game “Civilization” (1991). The Five Nations’ engine was used by Beam Software to create two other games: 1994’s “Master of Magic”, which was set in an entirely different fantasy universe, and 1995’s 5 in One Fun Pak, which features a more contemporary setting.
The 5 in One Fun Pak is an example of a compilation game. It contains five mini games from the “Victory” series—the aforementioned Master of Magic, Civilization, and Five Nations—as well as Red Storm Rising and Star Trek: The Next Generation. The purpose of the mini-games is to show off the capabilities of the Visual Reality Engine that powered all of these games. Each mini game has its own interface, but it still looks like a part of the same game.
