Oubliette-Typing-rpg
Do you remember how much fun it was to play a game of Oubliette, where you had to type the target word in a limited amount of tries, as fast as you can?
Well we did and we thought that it would be even more fun if we added some roleplaying elements to it. So here comes Oubliette-Typing-Rpg.
People have the tendency to make things more complicated than they need to be. As you may know, learning to type is important. People who can type, can write emails much faster. They can finish their homework faster. They can play games that require typing skills. They also don’t have to depend on other people all the time because they can do a lot of stuff by themselves. Thus, when we learned about this Oubliette Typing RPG game, we thought it would be great if we were able to teach people how to type in a fun and educational way.
Type your way as deep into a dungeon as you can. You’ll encounter many obstacles along the way, including enemies, traps and even spells. Defeat all the enemies and collect their loot to improve your stats.
When we were brainstorming about what game to make for this, the first thing that came to mind was an online typing RPG. We’ve never seen anything like it, and it would be the perfect chance to mix two things that don’t seem like they’d go together, while still keeping the idea of a dungeon crawl. We decided that we wanted to make a game where you type as fast as you can to fight monsters and progress through the dungeon, but we also wanted to make a game that is educational. As such, we made the monsters on-screen not just attack you based on your typing speed, but they also did damage based on how well you are doing in the game. For example, if you are typing at 20 WPM (which is bad), there will be more misspelled words and typos than if you were typing at 40 WPM (a good pace). This way, even if you learn nothing from playing our game about how to type better, at least you will have fun playing it!
