As a driver of a car, the fear of being in the middle of a traffic jam is one of the most terrifying things that can happen. You don’t know how long you will be stuck there, but you know that it could take hours. Imagine being late for an important meeting with your boss, or missing your flight at the airport because of a traffic jam! What if he lost the brakes of his vehicle in the middle of a traffic jam?

Imagine you’re stuck in city traffic, when all of a sudden your car just stops. The brake pedal goes all the way down without slowing you down at all. You can’t move forward, you can’t move backward—you can’t even roll down your windows or turn on the radio. What do you do?

If this scenario sounds familiar, you’ve probably heard about the mobile app Waze, which has taken social navigation to the next level by allowing drivers to report things like hazards, construction zones and accidents on the road. Waze is a community-based GPS navigation experience that uses information from local drivers to help people get where they need to go. Driving is already an immensely stressful activity (that’s why we have so many guided meditations for it), so it’s no surprise that a few features of this app are specifically designed to help keep its users calm and relaxed as they navigate through their cities and towns.

One of these features is called “Waze Carpool.” It connects drivers with other commuters who are going in the same direction and adds them to their route.
